Title : Evaluation of CD4⁺ and CD8⁺ T Lymphocytes Levels In Patients with COVID-19 in Najaf Province

Abstract :

One of the most important events in the last three years was emerging a new SARS-CoV-2, a highly contagious virus that caused a significant health problem. This study analyzed the association between the count of T lymphocyte subpopulations and different statuses of SARS-CoV-2 infection. A total of 140 patients with COVID-19 disease and 60 healthy controls of 18 to 95 years old were enrolled. Significant differences were observed between COVID-19 patients and control groups regarding age at P-value>0.05. Serum levels of anti-SARS- CoV-2 IgM and IgG antibodies showed highly significant differences (P-value<0.001) between different states of COVID-19 and control groups. A significant association was detected in the levels of CD4⁺ and CD8⁺T cells in all groups of patients with COVID-19 compared with control groups. In mild COVID-19, the levels of CD4⁺ and CD8⁺ T-cells (21.33 ± 6.92), and (22.56 ± 9.49), in moderate (14.89 ± 8.37), and (11.14 ± 11.12), while, in severe cases of COVID-19, (14 ± 7.64) and (10.43 ± 6.32), respectively. The main findings of this study revealed a reduction in the levels of CD4⁺ and CD8⁺ T lymphocytes and abnormal levels of Anti-SARS CoV-2 IgG Ab, which may be reflected in the severity of COVID-19 and considered an important biomarker in the prediction of the consequence of the disease.

Title : Analyzing the Level of Depression, Anxiety and Stress of Students at the University during COVID-19

Abstract :

Nowadays, COVID-19 has broadly attacked several psychological aspects of students during lectures at university, but it is still unknown accurately which psychological aspects more impacted and which factors that triggered them. This study aims to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on levels of depression, anxiety and stress in students. A cross-sectional online survey study was adopted in this study. Subjects (n=85) came from five universities in Indonesia and had differences in demographics. The measurement of depression, anxiety and stress level was using DASS-21. Data were analyzed using Chi-square and univariate analysis. Results indicate that the COVID-19 pandemic caused level of depression, anxiety and stress in students to be in the normal range, mild to moderate and there was a significant relationship between demographic variables and levels of depression, anxiety and stress. It can be concluded that COVID-19 has a fairly strong impact on students’ depression, anxiety and stress aspects, while undergoing physical education courses. This research is benefit for lecturers in carrying out physical education lectures, so they can optimize student academic achievement in the COVID-19 era.

Title : Correlation between IL-1β, IL-18 and some hematological variable in uropathogenic E. coli infected UTI patients

Abstract :

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most common types of infection acquired from society and hospitals, so the current study aimed to know the extent of this infection and to detect the causative bacteria, as well as to know the effect of urinary tract infections on some blood and immune indicators represented by interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β) and interleukin 18 (IL-18). The relationship of some hematological and immunological indicators with urinary tract infection and the study of the relationship of IL-1β and IL-18 with each other on the one hand and with some hematological indicators on the other hand was studied, which is a first study of its kind. In this study, 77 blood and urine samples were collected from patients with urinary tract infection, while 10 samples were taken from healthy patients without UTI and who do not suffer from chronic diseases and they were used as a control group. All urine samples were examined and cultured, in addition to conducting laboratory blood tests to identify blood variables, and the level of some immune variables, which included IL-1β and IL-18, was measured using the Enzyme Linked Immune Sorbent Assay (ELISA) technique. The results obtained from urine culture, 61 out of 77 samples recorded bacterial growth (positive result) and 16 samples did not record bacterial growth (negative result), while all healthy samples were culture negative, 4 types of bacteria causing urinary tract infection were isolated. In our study, S. aureus bacteria constituted the largest percentage, 57.4%, followed by E. coli bacteria, 24.6%. The current study also showed that the most affected age group of adults is the group (15-29 years), with a rate of 37.7%. When evaluating the level of IL-1β in patients and comparing it with the healthy group, a significant increase of 0.0957 pg./ml was found in the patients compared with the healthy controls. And when evaluating the level of IL-18, a significant increase was found at a rate of 0.1107 pg./ml in patients compared to healthy controls with a lower level. With regard to blood variables, an increase in the level of white blood cells was observed (7.82 ±3.32) in the affected patients when compared with the control group (6.71 ±1.01). As for the other variables, non-significant differences were noted when comparing patients with the healthy ones. The interrelationships between the variables were studied. Hematological and immune variables in patients and comparing them with the control group, it was found that there is a positive correlation between IL-1β and IL-18, as well as a positive relationship between white blood cells with the two types of immune variables.

Title : Neonatal urinary uric acid creatinine/ ratio as an additional marker of perinatal asphyxia

Abstract :

The aim of this study is to use urine uric acide/creatinine ratio as simple predictor test for perinatal asphyxia. In this cross sectional study, The study will include (80 neonate: 40 with low apgar and 40 control) to assess the urinary uric acid/creatinine ratio (UA/Cr) in relation to Apgar score and arterial blood gases in first 72 hours. Out of 40 cases there were17 male (42.5%) and 23 female (57.5%), 7 cases were delivered by normal vaginal delivery (17.5%) and 33cases were delivered by cesarean delivery (82.5%). In the control group out of 40 neonates there were 17 male (42%) and 23 female (57%) ,10 cases were delivered by normal vaginal delivery (25%) and 30 cases were delivered by cesarean delivery (75%). The mean weight of the cases group was 2.9 kg with standard deviation 0.2, on the other hand the mean weight of the control group was 3.04 kg with standard deviation 0.23 and P value of 0.005. 30 out of 40 asphyxiated neonates showed increase uric acid creatinine ratio in urine which show accuracy of 98% and specificity of 96%. The ratio of UA/Cr enables early and rapid recognition of asphyxial injury and also the assessment of its severity and the potential for short term morbidity or death.

Title : Challenges of nursing care in times of pandemics

Abstract :

A documentary review was carried out on the production and publication of research papers related to the study of the variable Challenges of Nursing Care in times of Pandemic. The purpose of the bibliometric analysis proposed in this document is to know the main characteristics of the volume of publications registered in Scopus database during the period 2020-2021 in Latin American countries, achieving the identification of 200 publications. The information provided by this platform was organized by means of tables and figures, categorizing the information by Year of Publication, Country of Origin, Area of Knowledge and Type of Publication. Once these characteristics were described, the position of different authors regarding the proposed topic was referenced by means of a qualitative analysis. Among the main findings of this research, it is found that Brazil, with 150 publications, is the Latin American country with the highest production. The Area of Knowledge that made the greatest contribution to the construction of bibliographic material referring to the study of Challenges of Nursing Care in times of Pandemic was nursing with 112 published documents, and the Type of Publication that was most used during the period indicated above was the Journal Article, which represents 85% of the total scientific production.
