Abstract :
Primary spinal cord tumors are rare central nervous system tumors that can develop at any age and have different management strategies based on histopathology. In Indonesia, there is paucity of literature describing the surgical treatment of patients presenting primary spinal cord tumor. There are currently no reports that focus on the epidemiology of primary TMS in Indonesia. The aim of this retrospective descriptive study is to review the incidence of primary TMS in Dr. Kariadi Semarang and described the relative frequency of each tumor classified by gender, age, type of histological picture, anatomical position and location based on vertebral height According to the statistics, the mean age of patients was 42.9 ± 15.3 years, and the gender distribution was identical. Pathology in the form of histological schwannoma was classified as the most common type of pathology (27.6%) followed by meningiomas (18.4%), metastases (9.2%), and ependymoma (9.2%). The majority of sites were intradural extramedullary (46.1%) at the level of the thoracic vertebrae (46.1%).
