Chronic wounds are type of wounds that do not heal in an expected period of time, they are challenging to treat and pose a threat for the afflicted. Platelet-rich plasma has the potential in overcoming these challenges as it is typically used in accelerating healing. This systematic review was conducted in accordance to the 2020 Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRIMSA). 6 out of 345 records were selected for this review. The administration of platelet-rich plasma to patients caused an increased rate in chronic wound healing process as seen from the differences in the wound size. Based on the data gathered, AA-PRP is considered safe and effective in aiding the process of chronic wound healing.
